Fellow KPA faculty member, Laurie Luck, joins me for an episode this week. (So, you better look out!)
Founder of Smart Dog University, Laurie is basically one of the smartest people I know (next to myself, of course). This smartass smarty pants holds a Master’s degree from George Mason and is a self-professed dog lover and people teacher.
In fact, one of the many things we have in common is a love/obsession for really high-quality teaching… training yes, but also teaching. We spend a lot of time talking about how to apply solid click training techniques to teaching our human students. Because we both strongly believe that good training is good training… no matter what species!
We talk about:
- Mistakes we made when first learning to teach people how to train their own dogs
- Why we really CAN teach pet owners to use a clicker successfully
- How we break down the necessary skills to make good training accessible
- When concepts and scientific theories DO matter, and how to communicate them without putting everyone to sleep
